IT and society transformation
The second conference of the
PDSI - Pla Director de Sistemes d'Informació ("Information Sistems Director Plan") took place yesterday in the SEDEM center at Igualada. This time the conference was given by Antoni Farrés, who is a well known person in Catalunya, and the title of the conference was "Les noves tecnologies i la transformació de la societat" ("New technologies and society transformation").
The conference showed the challenges that ICTs present to the society, specially the catalan society. ICTs suppose a new revolution, which can be compared to the industrial revolution. In fact, the industrial revolution was a key factor to the evolution of Catalonia and the catalan society. Catalonia was one of the firsts zones to adopt the industrial revolution, and now is the time to adopt the knowledge revolution. Globalization is a fact, and the "society of the knowledge" is where we must go. As mr. Farrés said, "Catalunya serà digital o no serà" ("Catalonia will be digital or won't be").
