I was amazed last week when I "discovered" that the Office LIPs (including the Catalan one) can be installed on any version (including the English one) of Office 2003 . Well, you may ask, why shouldn't?

 

The answer comes after recalling the old law: "When everything else fails, try reading the documentation".

 

I have most of the software in my computer installed in English. Otherwise if you are an early adopter of software as I'm trying to be, you end up with a language mess. But Catalan is my first language, so it is comfortable having applications translated.

 

There are two Catalan LIPs for current Microsoft products: one for Windows XP and one for Office 2003. The point is that the Windows XP Catalan LIP, which was first launched, can be installed on the Spanish version of Windows XP only. So I assumed that the same happened to the Office XP LIP.

 

Conclusion: Next time I'll try to remember to spend five more minutes reading the release notes.
